Finalmente foram revelados os jogos que disputarão o prêmio de Game of the Year no The Game Awards 2019. 

Um desses seis jogos irá ficar no topo da lista no lugar de God of War, que foi o vencedor da categoria em 2018.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate é o único dos nomeados que não chegou ao mercado em 2019, mas sim no ano passado. No entanto, na altura em que são realizados estes prêmios, o game da Nintendo ainda não se encontrava no mercado.

The Game Awards é uma cerimônia de premiação anual que reconhece os melhores jogos eletrônicos de cada ano, além de grandes feitos na indústria. 

Novos títulos também são anunciados durante as cerimônias, que são exclusivamente produzidas e apresentadas por Geoff Keighley, o qual, por sua vez, trabalhou anteriormente na Spike Video Game Awards.

A primeira cerimônia foi apresentada no dia 5 de dezembro de 2014 em Las Vegas, Nevada, sob olhares do mundo inteiro, deu à premiação o posto de “Oscar Videogames"

A cerimônia The Game Awards 2019 premiação acontecerá por Geoff Keighley no Microsoft Theater em Los Angeles no dia 12 de dezembro de 2019, sendo transmitida ao vivo pelo Twitch e YouTube.
